Syria has expressed its strong condemnation of the repeated Israeli aggressions against it and neighboring countries, calling on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and put an end to the “occupation and aggression” policies.
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated in a declaration today: “For the second consecutive day, continuing the criminal approach practiced by the Zionist entity against Syria and the region, the Zionist entity today committed a new crime by attacking a residential building in a densely populated civilian area in the center of Damascus, resulting in three martyrs and a number of civilian injuries and damage to private property.”
The ministry added: “The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms these repeated criminal attacks by the terrorist entity on civilians in Syria and neighboring countries, and calls again on the Security Council to break its silence and assume its responsibilities by putting an end to the policies of occupation and aggression and holding the Israeli war criminals accountable, who are shielded by the protection provided to them by some states complicit in these serious violations of international law, international humanitarian law, and the provisions of the United Nations Charter.”
A Syrian military source earlier today announced the death of three civilians and the injury of three others in an Israeli attack on the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus. Additionally, three civilians were killed and nine others were wounded in an Israeli bombing targeting several points in the city of Damascus early yesterday.
Recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon, including Beirut and southern areas, have primarily targeted Hezbollah, aiming to curb the group’s missile and rocket capabilities. Israel’s military actions are described as defensive, aimed at neutralizing threats from Hezbollah’s stored weaponry in civilian areas, following Hezbollah’s increased rocket attacks towards Israel. These developments mark a significant escalation in hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, with substantial impacts on local civilians and the broader security situation in the region.
