The member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) are seeking to enhance the open global economy, ensure fair access to markets, and support a multilateral trading system.
This statement came from the SCO summit, held in New Delhi via video conferencing on Tuesday. India is chairing the summit this year, which includes Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The statement emphasized the importance of improving and reforming the global economic governance structure. It also reiterated support for the continuous enhancement of an open, transparent, fair, inclusive, and multilateral trading system based on the principles and rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which ensures the development of a global economy and fair access to markets.
The summit was attended by the leaders of the SCO member countries, and Iran, Belarus, and Mongolia were invited as observer states. Turkmenistan was invited as a guest.
