Saudi Arabia is preparing to host talks about Ukraine in August, inviting representatives from Western states, Ukraine, and several major developing countries, including India and Brazil, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday.

The meeting, scheduled for August 5th and 6th, will bring together senior officials from approximately 30 countries, including Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Chile, and Zambia.

The diplomats involved in the discussions disclosed these plans.

Notably, Russia has been excluded from these talks. The objective of the talks is to garner international support for peace terms that favor Ukraine, as desired by both Ukraine and Western officials.

The Kremlin, which asserts control over approximately one-sixth of Ukrainian territory following annexation, has expressed its readiness for peace negotiations with Ukraine only if Kyiv accepts what it terms “new realities,” alluding to its territorial claims.

On the other hand, Kyiv insists that negotiations with Russia can only occur after Moscow withdraws its troops from Ukrainian territory.
