Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong emphasized strengthening collaboration to combat extremism and terrorism. They also underscored the significance of promoting tolerance and curbing religious disrespect.

As reported by the Saudi Press Agency, this came in a joint statement concluding the Singaporean Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia. Both parties recognized the importance of enhancing defense and security cooperation, focusing on mutual areas of interest.

Such cooperative endeavors aim to tackle crimes in all their forms, ensuring security and stability in both nations. On climate change, Singapore welcomed Saudi Arabia’s “Green Saudi” and “Green Middle East” initiatives, expressing support for the Kingdom’s efforts in addressing climate change.

These efforts include implementing the circular carbon economy approach, which was endorsed by G20 leaders in 2020. In the energy domain, both sides stressed ensuring global energy market stability, advocating dialogue between producing and consuming nations.

They highlighted cooperation in low-carbon solutions, including green and clean hydrogen, carbon capture, storage, and utilization, electricity, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and related innovations. They plan to further these discussions under the roadmap for energy cooperation.

This roadmap serves as the action plan for a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Energy Ministry and Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry. The two also agreed on strengthening collaboration in petroleum, refined products, petrochemicals, and developing innovative hydrocarbon resource applications and energy efficiency.

Lastly, the Singaporean Prime Minister praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts in serving the two holy mosques and their visitors, recognizing the high-level coordination for the comfort of pilgrims from Singapore. He also voiced Singapore’s support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
