Russian drones have carried out an attack on Ukrainian port infrastructures located at Izmail, situated on the River Danube and not far from Romania, a NATO member nation. Key facilities like a grain storage, a passenger building, and a grain loading elevator have suffered damages due to this strike.
Russia initiated assaults on Ukrainian ports after deserting a United Nations pact that ensured safe grain export for both nations across the Black Sea. An extensive fire was reported to be blazing from the port vicinity of Izmail early on Wednesday.
Footage captured from the Romanian side of the Danube, approximately 3km (1.9 miles) away, highlighted the severity of the fire. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis deemed Russia’s incessant attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructures “in the proximity of Romania” as unacceptable.
According to Ukraine’s air force, Russian drones were detected moving towards the Danube River where Ukraine has two ports, Izmail and Reni. The southern military command of Ukraine disclosed that air defenses had been active for nearly three hours.
Odesa’s regional leader, Oleh Kiper, reported that emergency services were responding at the latest site of Russian aggression, with no casualties reported thus far.
Ukrainian President Acknowledges Damage Caused by Russian Strike
