Qatar Airways announced that it is boosting its services in Saudi Arabia by resuming flights to Abha, with two scheduled weekly flights beginning on January 2, 2025.
Additionally, during the winter season, the frequency of flights to NEOM will double from two to four weekly flights.
These enhancements in the schedule will offer passengers more flexible travel options and improved connections to Qatar Airways’ extensive global network from Doha’s Hamad International Airport, which was named the World’s Best Airport by Skytrax in 2024.
Abha is known for its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural history, and it becomes Qatar Airways’ 11th destination in Saudi Arabia, joining cities like AlUla, Dammam, Jeddah, Medina, NEOM, Qassim, Riyadh, Tabuk, Taif, and Yanbu. This expansion to over 140 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia highlights Qatar Airways’ dedication to increasing regional connectivity.
Passengers heading to NEOM will experience a pioneering lifestyle in this ‘land of dreams,’ designed to integrate living and working with nature. The current bi-weekly flights to NEOM will increase to four times a week this winter.
Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways Group, expressed pride in the expansion: “The resumption of flights to Abha and the increased service to NEOM underscores our commitment to serving the demand for Saudi Arabia’s top destinations. We eagerly anticipate welcoming both business and leisure travelers to enjoy our exceptional services and connectivity via our Doha hub at Hamad International Airport.”
Mr. Majid Khan, CEO of the Saudi Air Connectivity Program, remarked on the significance of Qatar Airways resuming direct flights to the scenic Aseer region and Abha, and increasing service to NEOM. He noted that through Qatar Airways’ extensive network, international tourists from 170 destinations will now have better access to these areas, supporting Saudi Arabia’s tourism goals.
Ali Masrahi, CEO of Cluster 2 Airports Company, managing NEOM, Abha, and 20 other airports, praised the partnership with Qatar Airways. He highlighted the alignment with national aviation goals and the improvement of global connectivity through these new flights.
Hashim Al-Dabbagh, Acting CEO of Aseer Development Authority, shared his enthusiasm for the renewed connection between Abha International Airport and Qatar Airways, expecting it to boost regional tourism and connectivity.
Travelers from Abha can soon enjoy seamless connections to major cities like Dubai, Manila, and Sharjah, and experience top-notch facilities at Hamad International Airport, awarded as the ‘World’s Best Airport’ and the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ by Skytrax.
