A helicopter crash in Cairns, Australia, resulted in the death of a pilot after the aircraft crashed into the rooftop of a hotel.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 12, 2024, on the roof of the Hilton Cairns.

According to the Canberra Times, the pilot was killed during an unauthorized flight.

Witnesses reported that the helicopter, which had two engines, was flying at high speed before it collided with the hotel, causing a massive explosion.

The helicopter, owned by Nautilus Aviation, was not authorized for use at the time of the crash. The company confirmed that it had not permitted the flight.

Emergency services quickly evacuated about 400 guests from the hotel to ensure their safety.

Australian police have initiated a criminal investigation to identify the pilot and determine the cause of the crash.

The authorities are working to gather more details and ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about aviation safety and the importance of adhering to flight regulations to prevent unauthorized operations.
