The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has renewed its condemnation of the continuous crimes and assaults by Israeli occupation forces and settler militias against Palestinian civilians, their land, homes, properties, and religious sites.
The Ministry highlighted an incursion carried out by the occupation forces earlier today in the town of Zababdeh, south of Jenin, which resulted in the martyrdom of 17-year-old Osman Abu Khrej. This adds to the ongoing home demolitions, the destruction of Palestinian structures, and demolition notices under baseless pretexts.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry denounced the persistent attacks by settler militias and their terrorism throughout the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. It also criticized the racially inciting calls made by Jewish terrorist elements to execute their crimes against Palestinian citizens, their homes, vehicles, and religious sites, as seen in the governorates of Nablus, Hebron, and Bethlehem.
The Ministry stated, “These violations and crimes are part of an ongoing war waged by the occupation against the Palestinian existence, particularly in Area C regions, including the occupied East Jerusalem. They are part of a colonialist and expansionist plan racing against time to annex the occupied West Bank, undermining any chance of actualizing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.”
It added that the protection some major countries offer, ensuring Israel continually escapes punishment, combined with the international community’s mild reactions to the occupation and settlers’ crimes, their violation of international law, and the lack of international will to implement related UN resolutions, emboldens Israel to commit more crimes and sabotage any opportunity for a negotiated conflict resolution.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called for urgent U.S. and international intervention to compel the Israeli government to return to the negotiation table, following international peace benchmarks, including the Arab Peace Initiative, as the sole gateway to restore security and stability in the region.
