The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that more than half a million people have been displaced within Lebanon, while another 285,000 have fled the country.
According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), at least 541,527 individuals had been displaced internally as of last Thursday, with nearly 285,000 leaving Lebanon since September 23, 40% of whom are Lebanese.
Reports indicate that about 40,000 Lebanese have fled, along with 10,000 Syrians, most crossing into Syria by land.
Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, highlighted the severe crisis Lebanon faces due to ongoing Israeli air raids.
In a post on the X platform on Saturday, Grandi stated that the Israeli airstrikes have left hundreds of thousands homeless.
Since September 23, Israeli forces have conducted extensive aerial bombings and a ground military operation in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health’s Emergency Operations Center reported that the Israeli aggression has resulted in 2,036 fatalities and 9,653 injuries from October 8 to Friday, September 4.
Approximately 77 healthcare workers have been killed, 28 of whom died within a 24-hour period between Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, sirens continue to sound in several areas of Israel following the launch of hundreds of rockets by Hezbollah and Palestinian factions at military sites and settlements in the occupied Palestinian towns and cities.
There has been a strict blackout in Tel Aviv regarding the extent of the human and material losses.
As the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensifies, 22 countries have initiated plans to evacuate their citizens from Lebanon in recent days.
