The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar met today with the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, along with her accompanying delegation.
The General Command’s media office stated that Marshal Haftar welcomed the Italian Prime Minister, expressing his gratitude and appreciation for her visit to the Benghazi headquarters to discuss recent local and regional developments and explore ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries.
During their meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing to support the political process in Libya to ensure the conduct of presidential and parliamentary elections, aiming to achieve stability in the country.
Prime Minister Meloni expressed her appreciation for the crucial role of the armed forces in maintaining security and stability and her commitment to the unity of Libyan territory. She also highlighted the importance of strengthening the partnership between the two sides in commercial, economic, and cultural fields, and the ongoing cooperation in combating illegal immigration, human trafficking, and implementing measures to curb these phenomena in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
