On Tuesday, Lebanon announced it has lodged a complaint with the United Nations against Israel for its alleged jamming of the Global Positioning System (GPS) in Lebanon.
The Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications released a statement indicating that the complaint was submitted through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to both the United Nations and the International Telecommunication Union.
The complaint specifically addresses “Israeli jamming primarily affecting GPS systems in Lebanon.”
Israel has not commented on Lebanon’s complaint. The exact motives behind the jamming remain unclear.
However, Lebanese observers suggest that the jamming may be intended to disrupt Lebanese airspace and impede the operation of drones.
