The Media Office of Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati has responded to the statements of Head of Libya’s National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, regarding the continued imprisonment of Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of the former Libyan leader.

In a statement, the office of the Lebanese Prime Minister denied reports regarding contact between Mikati and Dabaiba concerning Hannibal Gaddafi.

The statement further clarified that the Lebanese Premier has not received any communication from any Libyan party regarding the issue.

It emphasised that the case of Hannibal Gaddafi is under the jurisdiction, and any developments related to the case will follow proper legal procedures.

Mikati reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to maintaining positive relations with the Libyan people.

Earlier, the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, had stated that he discussed the situation of Hannibal Muammar Gaddafi with his Lebanese counterpart.

Dabaiba emphasised that if Hannibal Gaddafi is implicated in any legal cases, he should be tried in the Libyan courts.
