Malik Agar, Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), said his delegation called on Moscow to help in stopping the war during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Agar highlighted: “We explained to Lavrov the current situation in Sudan and we discussed issues of bilateral relations away from the conflict.”
On his part, Lavrov his concern over the situation in Sudan and affirmed Russia’s willingness to contribute to ending the ongoing conflict and stabilizing the country.
The minister asserted: “Russia is watching with concern what is happening in Sudan and is interested in helping to create the conditions for normalizing the situation.”
“We contact all concerned parties through our embassy, which remains in Khartoum. It is of special importance for us today to hear your assessments of the situation,” he added.
The visit took place after the Head of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, welcomed Turkish efforts to end the clashes in Sudan.
Al-Burhan affirmed Sudan’s welcoming of any Turkish initiative to stop the war and bring peace to Sudan,” according to a statement released after a call between the two leaders.
