Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates vehemently condemned Israel’s bombing of a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) school in the Nuseirat camp, which resulted in the deaths of dozens, including six UNRWA staff, and injured several Palestinians. This blatant breach of international law highlights the ongoing violations by Israel.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Sofian Al-Qudah, stated that Israel’s continued disregard for international and humanitarian law is a consequence of the absence of a decisive international stance to end the ongoing aggression in Gaza, which has led to unprecedented killing, destruction, and a humanitarian disaster.
Al-Qudah also emphasized the kingdom’s rejection and condemnation of this act, which contradicts humanitarian and ethical values and the rules of international law, particularly the 1949 Geneva Convention regarding the protection of civilians during war. He stressed the necessity of ensuring the protection of civilians, vital facilities providing essential services to Palestinian brethren, and humanitarian facilities and shelters as mandated by international law.
Furthermore, Al-Qudah noted that Israel, as the occupying power, bears full legal and moral responsibility for the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. He affirmed that Israel’s targeting of relief workers and United Nations personnel, including UNRWA, constitutes a new war crime added to the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza, which have claimed thousands of innocent lives.
Al-Qudah renewed his call to the international community, especially the Security Council, to take immediate and decisive steps to stop these crimes against the Palestinian people, provide necessary protection, and support their legitimate rights to establish an independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
