The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s call to halt the export of weapons to Israel, used in its ongoing aggression against Gaza.

In a statement, the official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, affirmed that President Macron’s call aligns with United Nations Security Council resolutions, the General Assembly, and the International Court of Justice decisions. These resolutions emphasize the need for a ceasefire in Gaza, the alleviation of unprecedented humanitarian suffering, and ensuring the delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid across the besieged territory while protecting civilians.

Ambassador Qudah expressed appreciation for France’s consistent support for the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and the establishment of an independent, sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution. He also lauded France’s efforts in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

Furthermore, Ambassador Qudah stressed the importance of imposing a full ban on arms exports to Israel, warning that the lack of serious consequences for Israel’s actions would only lead to continued aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as further violations in the occupied West Bank, posing a serious breach of international law and a threat to regional security.
