Ahmed Al-Safadi, the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, stressed the catastrophic impact of the war on Gaza, causing massive civilian suffering and significant destruction of civil infrastructure. This was highlighted during his meeting with German Commissioner for Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, Luisa Amtsberg, at the Jordanian House of Representatives on Saturday.
Al-Safadi underscored the urgency of halting the war on Gaza and protecting civilians, particularly women and children, and ensuring the delivery of urgent aid to the region. He reiterated King Abdullah II’s consistent advocacy for a peaceful solution based on the two-state resolution as the guarantee for Palestinian rights.
According to a statement from the House of Representatives, Al-Safadi expressed his concern that the world’s indifference to Palestinian rights and peace efforts negatively impacts the entire globe, warning that continued warfare could ignite the entire region.
Luisa Amtsberg, the German Commissioner, acknowledged the deep ties between Jordan and Germany, commending Jordan’s efforts in supporting and hosting refugees. She recognized Jordan as a key partner in the region, managing refugee care with significant efforts.
Amtsberg emphasized the necessity of stopping the war on Gaza and returning to a peaceful solution that allows the Palestinian people to establish their state based on the two-state solution. She also stressed the need to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza and ensure the opening of safe passages for aid delivery.
