Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has emphasized the pivotal role of Saudi Arabia in achieving peace in the Middle East.

During a meeting on Thursday with Saudi Minister of Economy Faisal bin Fadhil Al-Ibrahim in Rome, Tajani highlighted the importance of Saudi support.

According to a statement from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported by the Italian news agency (AKI), Tajani said, “Italy is at the forefront of the ‘Food for Gaza’ initiative, and we are ready to consider deploying our personnel under the UN umbrella for an Arab-led mission, similar to the UNIFIL forces.

In this context, Saudi Arabia’s role and support are central and decisive for regional de-escalation.”

Al-Ibrahim expressed keen interest in the tangible impact Italy and Saudi Arabia could achieve together, particularly under the Mattei Plan aimed at stabilizing the region and Africa.
