Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria announces that Israeli F-16 fighter jets have attacked the infrastructure of al-Nairab Airport in Syria from the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in partial destruction.
In a development that escalates tensions in the Middle East, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria confirmed on Monday that four Israeli F-16 fighter jets launched an attack on the infrastructure of al-Nairab Airport in Syria. The strikes were conducted from the Mediterranean Sea without entering Syrian airspace. The announcement was made by Admiral Vadim Kulit during a press briefing.
The attack, which took place on August 28 between 4:20 and 4:27 a.m., resulted in the partial destruction of the runway at al-Nairab Airport. Earlier in the day, Syrian air defenses also thwarted an Israeli missile attack targeting Aleppo International Airport in northern Syria.
Israel has repeatedly conducted airstrikes on military sites in Syria, claiming they are operated by factions loyal to Iran. Israel has also continually affirmed its commitment to counter what it describes as Iran’s attempts to establish a military presence in Syria.
Syria has previously called on the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations to condemn Israeli aggression and take decisive measures to prevent its recurrence.
As Israel intensifies its aerial operations in Syria, targeting sites it claims are linked to Iran, the international community watches closely. Syria has appealed to the United Nations for intervention, but the cycles of strikes and countermeasures continue. The recent attack on al-Nairab Airport adds a new layer to the complex tapestry of Middle Eastern geopolitics.
