Israel’s Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, announced plans to intensify military strikes on Hezbollah during a visit to Safed.
Gallant stated that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have been hitting Hezbollah hard over the past year, especially in recent weeks, and this effort will increase to restore security in northern Israel.
In a video message from the northern city, which has faced recent rocket attacks, Gallant emphasised Israel’s commitment to continue targeting Hezbollah until the safety of northern residents is secured and evacuees can return home.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reinforced this stance, vowing that the military would maintain its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon for as long as necessary.
Despite international calls for a cease-fire, Netanyahu said airstrikes will continue until Israel’s objectives are met.
The top priority is to ensure the safe return of displaced northern residents, which will only happen if Hezbollah halts its cross-border missile attacks.
Netanyahu delivered these remarks ahead of his address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, underlining Israel’s determination to counter Hezbollah’s aggression.
