Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Sunday that Israel would achieve victory after intercepting a barrage of Iranian missiles and drones. Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced the successful thwarting of the Iranian attack.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Netanyahu emphasized, “We intercepted and countered.. together we will triumph.”
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari detailed in a press conference that Iran had launched over 300 projectiles at Israel overnight, with 99% being successfully intercepted. He noted that a very small number of Iranian ballistic missiles managed to cross into Israeli territory but caused only minor damage to an airbase without affecting its operations.
Hagari added that Iran deployed 170 drones and over 30 cruise missiles, none of which penetrated Israeli borders. “Our planes intercepted 25 missiles launched by Iran outside our borders,” he stated.
He further highlighted that some of the launches occurred from Iraq and Yemen in addition to Iran, marking an extremely dangerous act that pushes the region towards escalation. The Iranian attack was “frustrated,” and the Chief of Staff approved the next plans, which were presented at the political level.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, in a videotaped statement on Sunday, affirmed that Israel had countered the initial major wave of missiles and drones launched by Iran, but cautioned that the confrontation was not yet over. “The entire world saw tonight who Iran is.
Containing the attack was impressive and resulted only in a few injuries. We remain vigilant and prepared for any scenario,” Gallant expressed.
Gallant stressed, “The battle is not over yet, we must remain alert and heed the instructions of the Israeli military and the Home Front Command.”
