The Israeli army announced on Monday the discovery of an underground complex extending 800 meters in southern Lebanon, used as a command center by Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force. According to the military, the complex was located “in the heart of a residential area” and contained advanced weapons and terrorist infrastructure prepared for future operations.
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari, in a video filmed from the location, said that during direct clashes, forces from the 8th Brigade eliminated several militants and uncovered various weapons, including advanced anti-helicopter missiles, rocket-propelled grenades, and motorcycles. The complex also had long-term facilities such as a kitchen and living quarters for fighters.
Hagari added that evidence found in the complex indicated it was part of Hezbollah’s “Operation Galilee” plan, aimed at executing large-scale offensive operations in the future.
During the raid, forces engaged with a militant inside the complex, prompting them to call in an airstrike, which successfully neutralized the target. Hagari described the operation as a “severe blow to Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure,” enhancing the Israeli army’s efforts to secure its northern border against the Iranian-backed group’s threats.
