The World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that Israel has been blocking the entry of medical specialists seeking to support clinics in Gaza.
This development has had a significant impact on the ability of healthcare providers to address critical needs in the region, according to the United Nations.
Since August, the WHO has reported that more than eight organizations, along with over 50 specialized staff members, have been affected by the ongoing Israeli blockade.
These specialists were scheduled to provide essential support to medical services in Gaza, including psychological assistance for healthcare workers at hospitals such as the European Gaza Hospital and Nasser Hospital.
Among the organizations affected is the non-profit Palestinian Medical Association of America, which has been barred from entering Gaza.
This move marks the first time that Israel has blocked entire organizations from participating in relief efforts for the besieged Gaza Strip.
The WHO emphasized the indispensable role that external medical teams play in delivering vital healthcare services.
It called for immediate and unrestricted access for emergency relief teams to enter Gaza, underlining the urgent need for medical supplies, personnel, and support to address the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by the conflict and ongoing blockade.
