An Israeli airstrike on the city of Homs in central Syria killed ten people, including six civilians and two Hezbollah fighters, on Wednesday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The airstrike targeted a building in the al-Hamraa neighborhood of Homs, which is home to a number of Iranian-backed militias. The Syrian Defense Ministry said that the airstrike also caused damage to several other buildings in the area.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the airstrike. However, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria in recent years, targeting Iranian-backed militias and Syrian government forces.

The airstrike comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran. The two countries have been engaged in a shadow war for years, with Israel carrying out airstrikes in Syria and Iran supporting Hezbollah and other militias in the region.

The United States also carried out airstrikes in Syria and Iraq last week, targeting Iranian-backed militias. The airstrikes were in retaliation for a drone attack that killed three American soldiers in Iraq.
