On Monday, Hezbollah announced that it had launched rocket strikes on three key sites in Israel, in response to the Israeli military’s heavy bombardment of southern and eastern Lebanon earlier in the day.
According to a statement from Hezbollah, the group targeted Israel’s Northern Corps’ reserve headquarters, the Galilee Division’s reserve base, and logistics warehouses at the Amiad base, as well as the Rafael military-industrial complexes in the Zevulun area, north of Haifa, with dozens of rockets.
The strikes are in retaliation for what Hezbollah described as Israeli aggression on Lebanon’s southern and Bekaa regions.
Israeli forces have continued to escalate their military campaign in Lebanon, conducting extensive airstrikes and artillery shelling across multiple locations in the south and Bekaa Valley.
Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have dramatically intensified since October 7, 2023, following Israel’s military operations in Gaza.
This has led to a significant spillover of conflict into Lebanon, with repeated skirmishes along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
Hezbollah, a powerful Shiite militant group backed by Iran, has long maintained a stronghold in southern Lebanon, often engaging in cross-border attacks against Israeli forces.
Israel’s ongoing airstrikes have targeted key infrastructure and residential areas in Lebanon’s border villages, leading to substantial human and material losses.
This latest exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel marks another chapter in the long-standing hostility between the two sides, with both parties frequently trading rocket attacks and airstrikes.
Hezbollah’s decision to target Israeli military and industrial sites signals an escalation in the conflict, further destabilizing the already volatile region. The group’s statement indicates a readiness for continued retaliation in response to any future Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory.
