Kim Dotcom, the German-Finnish entrepreneur and founder of the file-sharing services MegaUpload and Mega, has issued a stark warning that a potential war in the Middle East could spell the end for Israel.
“A just peace was the only hope Israel had. War will be the end of Israel,” he wrote on “x”.
This alert comes amid heightened tensions following the assassinations of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, in Tehran, and Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in a South Beirut suburb due to an Israeli airstrike.
The Middle East is currently on edge, with significant concerns that these assassinations could lead to a substantial escalation, potentially triggering a regional war.
There is an expectation of intensified mutual attacks between the Israeli military and Hezbollah, which could target areas and points that were not previously on the hit list before the assassination of Shukr.
Germany has urged for restraint to avoid worsening the situation in the Middle East after the assassination of top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

The spokesperson also stressed the necessity of maintaining calm and working towards de-escalation, including preserving opportunities for a hostage agreement and a ceasefire in Gaza.
Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is actively coordinating with EU partners and Middle Eastern representatives to de-escalate tensions, with diplomacy operating at full capacity.
Deputy government spokesperson Wolfgang Büchner highlighted the extreme danger of the current regional situation and the unanimous disinterest in further escalation, noting that Germany and its partners are fully engaged diplomatically to prevent further conflicts.
