The Russian news agency “Sputnik” reported a blast on the gas pipeline leading to the “Conoco” gas plant. The US Army controls this facility, using it as a base in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province.
Sputnik stated the targeted gas pipeline is used by the US Army and its allies to extract natural gas. The explosion occurred near the Abu Khashab desert area in the province’s west.
Additionally, this morning, unknown assailants targeted two unauthorized military bases with drones. These bases, controlled by the so-called “US Coalition Forces,” are located in the “Conoco” natural gas field and at the “Tanf” base near the Syrian-Jordanian-Iraqi border triangle.
Officials in the United States have announced the downing of two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that targeted US forces in Syria, resulting in minor injuries.
According to statements reported by the American Alhurra TV channel on Thursday evening, the attack occurred on Wednesday against US forces at the Tanf base near the Syria-Iraq-Jordan border.
The officials have not attributed responsibility for the attack to any specific group or entity.
Earlier on the same day, US forces in Iraq faced separate drone attacks, with one of them causing minor injuries.
The situation remains under investigation, and US military personnel are on heightened alert in the region.
The use of drones in conflicts has become increasingly prevalent, posing new challenges for military forces worldwide. Such incidents highlight the need for continued vigilance and countermeasures to protect troops and assets.
