A drone attack targeting an oil refinery in southern Russia led to a fire, according to a statement from a Kremlin-appointed official on Sunday. The incident occurred during a nighttime operation in the Volgograd region.
Governor Andrey Bocharov reported on Telegram that Russian air defenses managed to repel the attack. Despite this, a drone fell and exploded, igniting a fire at the refinery.
The fire has been successfully extinguished, and there were no reported casualties.
This attack is part of a series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil facilities, aimed at disrupting Russia’s infrastructure and cutting its war revenues, as Moscow continues its extensive military campaign against Ukraine, now in its third year.
