Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has underscored the dangers posed by continued military escalation in the region, warning that it threatens regional security and stability.
He made these remarks while meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday in Cairo, alongside Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aty and Jordan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Amjad Adaileh.
Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy noted that Minister Safadi conveyed greetings from Jordan’s King Abdullah II, which President El-Sisi warmly appreciated. The meeting included discussions on ongoing Egyptian-Jordanian efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
Both countries reaffirmed the need for increased international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, while ensuring the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to prevent a large-scale crisis. The leaders also stressed that establishing a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders remains key to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
President El-Sisi highlighted that further military escalation could exacerbate the situation, posing serious risks to regional security and jeopardising the well-being of the area’s populations.
