In a recent interview with Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid, published on “Ahram Online,” several issues were discussed, including the situation in Libya.
During the interview conducted by the Arabic news network “Al-Sharq Bloomberg,” Abu Zeid confirmed that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have issued directives to work towards the full restoration of diplomatic relations.
Abu Zeid added that these directives came after reaching an understanding between Cairo and Ankara on all issues related to their regional interests. He emphasized that the bilateral talks were characterized by transparency and clarity, as Egypt expressed its vision for stability in the region and ideal solutions for the situation in Libya.
According to Abu Zeid, Egypt and Turkey share a common interest in promoting stability in Libya through support for presidential and legislative elections. Egypt’s position remains resolute, emphasizing the necessity of non-interference by foreign powers and rejecting the presence of foreign forces in any form.
