The US Embassy in Khartoum has revealed the horrifying toll and human suffering brought about by the conflict in Sudan. In an urgent statement, the embassy explained that it has observed alarming reports of escalating civilian casualties in the Sudanese capital.

Washington is demanding an immediate cessation of all combat operations. The US Embassy in Khartoum has called on the military and the rapid support forces to halt fighting and facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid.

The Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces have been urged to ensure that their troops respect human rights and international humanitarian law, distinguish between civilians and combatants, avoid violations and hold perpetrators accountable.

The health crisis in the country is reaching severe levels. The World Health Organization has disclosed that the health crisis in Sudan has reached extremely dangerous levels, with more than two-thirds of hospitals still out of service.

In its statement, the organization confirmed that between April 15 and the present July 24, it verified 51 attacks on health facilities, resulting in 10 deaths and 24 injuries. The organization stressed the enormity of the health crisis, highlighting that it is working diligently to intensify its response, deliver critical medical supplies and other emergency health provisions.

The UN envoy to Sudan, Volker Perthes, confirmed that the country faces a real disaster and is on the verge of a comprehensive civil war. The conflict in Sudan is turning into a civil war. He asserted that the disintegration of Sudan will not merely be an internal collapse but an explosion affecting neighboring countries, noting the risk of neighboring countries being dragged into Sudan’s conflict arena.
