Egypt Leads Space Agency Development in Africa

Egypt has placed great importance on the African file, and supporting African countries in the fields of higher education and scientific research, in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to raise Africa.

Dr. Ayman Ashor, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of Egypt’s establishment of the African Space Agency. An agreement on the headquarters was signed with the African Union Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology in preparation for the operation of the African Space Agency.

The building of the agency has been completed in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic. The Ministry has nominated its representatives to the Space Governance Committee in Africa to play an effective role in the operation of the agency and achieve the expected return from it in the development of space technology in the African continent and opening up horizons for scientific and educational cooperation for space and remote sensing in the African continent.

The Ministry of Higher Education is cooperating in the field of space technology with the space agencies of Senegal and Malawi for joint cooperation in training and designing small satellites, with technical and technical support to prepare cadres from the two countries in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
