The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, through its Preventive Medicine Sector, has issued stringent directives to quarantine departments at various entry points.
These measures are designed to enhance vigilance and intensify health monitoring of passengers, transportation, and goods arriving from Israel, following the announcement of West Nile fever cases and fatalities by Israeli health authorities.
According to a statement from the Ministry, all travelers arriving directly or indirectly from Israel will undergo health screening.
This includes thermal imaging, temperature checks via thermal gates or remote temperature measurement devices, and visual inspection of passengers and transport crews. These measures are intended to prevent the spread of West Nile fever into Egypt.
Health authorities at entry points are instructed to immediately refer suspected cases to the designated hospital for health assessment and notify the Preventive Medicine Room, the General Administration of Quarantine, and the relevant Directorate of Health Affairs.
The Ministry also mandated that all airlines operating direct or indirect flights to and from Israel must conduct insect disinfection on board before arriving at Egyptian airports.
This process must adhere to World Health Organization guidelines, with airlines required to submit a certified and complete general aircraft declaration, including detailed information on pest control and health treatment operations conducted.
The heightened health measures reflect Egypt’s proactive approach to safeguarding public health and preventing the importation and spread of infectious diseases.
