Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reached out to Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in a phone call today. According to the official spokesman for the Presidency, Ahmed Fahmi, El-Sisi extended his congratulations to the Greek Prime Minister for his major electoral victory achieved by the ruling party in the parliamentary elections held last June. The results demonstrated the Greek electorate’s trust in Mitsotakis’s leadership and policies.
President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s pride in the strong cooperative relationship it maintains with Greece, highlighting Egypt’s commitment to continuing to strengthen these ties at all levels. This commitment includes not only bilateral relations but also the trilateral cooperation mechanism with Cyprus.
In response, the Greek Prime Minister expressed gratitude to President El-Sisi, reaffirming the strength and distinctiveness of the relations between Egypt and Greece.
Mitsotakis shared his country’s mutual interest in enhancing joint cooperation with Egypt on various fronts. The Prime Minister also mentioned the intention to continue intensive consultations on issues of common interest, especially those related to the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the implications of the current crises in the economy, food, and energy at a global level.
