The Governor of Egypt’s Matrouh Governorate, Khalid Shaheen, has confirmed the commencement of construction work on a new road that will connect Egypt to Libya, stretching from the Siwa Oasis in Egypt to the city of Kufra in Libya.

Shaheen, during a field tour to inspect the project, stated, “This road is one of the new roads that Egypt is building to promote comprehensive development in the country. The new Egypt-Libya road is located south of the Siwa Oasis and spans a length of 200 kilometers, reaching the city of Kufra in Libya.”

He further elaborated, “The ‘Egypt-Libya’ road under construction will contribute to the development and cultivation of an area of 650,000 acres in the future, aiming to boost the economic level in Siwa and enhance investment.”

It’s worth noting that the Arab Republic of Egypt had established a road connecting it to Libya five years ago, known as the ‘Siwa Jaghbub’ road, which stretches for 95 kilometers from the Siwa Oasis to the Jaghbub Oasis, southeast of Siwa.
