The Israeli military reported that a drone originating from Lebanon targeted a facility near the coastal city of Caesarea on Saturday, while two other drones were intercepted before reaching their targets, according to Agence France-Presse.
One of the drones was directed at the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea. Fortunately, Netanyahu was not at home during the attack, and no injuries were reported.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, a senior Israeli government official claimed that the incident was part of an assassination attempt on Netanyahu orchestrated by Iran.
In response, Netanyahu issued a strong statement, reaffirming Israel’s commitment to its defense strategy, emphasizing that nothing would deter them from continuing their efforts.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s office confirmed that the drone aimed directly at Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea, though it did not cause any damage.
The Israeli army stated that the drone struck a nearby facility but did not result in any casualties. Other drones were intercepted by Israeli defense systems.
Residents in Caesarea reported hearing explosions, but no injuries were confirmed by the Israeli emergency medical services.
While no group has yet claimed responsibility for the drone attack, Israeli authorities suspect Hezbollah’s involvement, though the organization has not officially taken responsibility.
The incident has raised concerns over escalating tensions, as Israel and Hezbollah have been locked in a series of skirmishes in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, an air raid siren was triggered in Tel Aviv, about 55 kilometers south of Caesarea, as a drone was reported to be approaching the Glilot area, home to Israel’s intelligence headquarters, including the Mossad.
Simultaneously, nine people were injured in Haifa and Western Galilee as a result of rocket fire from Lebanon, according to Israeli media reports.
Rockets struck Kiryat Ata in Haifa, damaging property and vehicles near residential buildings. The Israeli military reported that approximately 55 rockets were launched from Lebanon in the last hour alone, reflecting a sharp increase in hostilities along the border.
Hezbollah issued a statement confirming that its fighters launched a large-scale rocket barrage on Kiryot, a region north of Haifa, around 10:30 AM on Saturday.
The group described the attack as retaliation for Israeli strikes on southern Lebanese villages and civilian homes. This comes after Hezbollah announced it had entered a “new and escalated phase” in its confrontation with Israel, hinting at further developments in the coming days.
