The Chinese government has urged the United States to refrain from making baseless accusations and conducting cyber attacks on other countries for political purposes.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning called out the US for its actions and emphasized that China is a victim of cyber attacks, firmly opposing any form of such attacks.
The remarks come in response to recent allegations by the US of China’s involvement in cyber activities. Mao stated that cyber security is a global challenge that necessitates cooperation from the international community.
Instead of making unfounded claims against other countries, the US should focus on strengthening international collaboration to uphold cyber security.
Mao expressed concern over the US Cyber Command’s practice of indiscriminate and large-scale cyber attacks on countries worldwide, even listing key infrastructure in other nations as legitimate targets for such attacks. This approach has raised alarm and drawn criticism from China.
The call for responsible cyber behavior underscores the need for transparency and cooperation among nations to address cyber threats effectively.
As cyber security continues to be a pressing issue, China emphasises the importance of constructive dialogue and collective efforts to safeguard the digital landscape and protect nations from cyber threats.
