The Wadi Al-Ramm area in the capital city of Amman witnessed a heavy security presence on Saturday night after the spread of a chemical gas odor in the area.

According to a security source, a report was received by the Central Amman Police Directorate regarding the presence of a chemical gas odor in the Wadi Al-Ramm area.

The source added that teams were dispatched to the site, and it was discovered that it was a result of a fire in an area with pesticide waste.
It was confirmed that the situation was handled by the chemical team of the Civil Defense groups.

On June 22, a leak of toxic chlorine gas at Jordan’s Red Sea port of Aqaba has killed 13 people and injured more than 260 others, state media report.

Authorities said a chemical storage container fell while being transported as a result of a crane malfunction.
