Belgian football icon Eden Hazard, renowned for his impactful stints with Chelsea and Real Madrid, has officially declared his retirement from professional football at the age of 32.

After parting ways with Real Madrid at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Hazard, despite being linked with various European clubs, chose not to join a new team during the summer transfer window.

Taking to social media, Hazard shared a heartfelt message announcing his retirement on Instagram, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the right time to step away. The statement expressed gratitude for a remarkable career that spanned 16 years and featured over 700 matches played. Hazard acknowledged the realization of his dreams and the enjoyment experienced on numerous pitches worldwide. He expressed appreciation for the influential figures in his career, including managers, coaches, and teammates.

Hazard extended thanks to the clubs he represented, namely LOSC, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, along with expressing gratitude to the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) for his time with the Belgian national team. The message concluded with a heartfelt appreciation for his fans, acknowledging their support over the years.

The Belgian forward initiated his professional journey with Lille in 2007, achieving success and leading the team to a league-and-cup double in 2011. Hazard’s remarkable skills garnered attention from major clubs, and in 2012, he opted to join Chelsea, where he left an indelible mark.

Over 352 appearances for Chelsea, he scored 110 goals and provided 92 assists, contributing significantly to the club’s six major honors, including two Premier League titles. Hazard’s retirement marks the end of an illustrious career that left a lasting impact on football fans worldwide.
