Joan Laporta has revealed that Barcelona had turned down a €200 million offer for Lamine Yamal, according to MARCA.
PSG, represented by Jorge Mendes, had made the proposal for the Blaugrana forward. Barcelona rejected the bid from the French club, citing their belief in the player’s potential as the future of the team.
Laporta elaborated on the decision, stating, “We have received offers for players like Lamine Yamal, for €200 million, and we have declined. Because we trust the young man, he is the future of the team.”
“We have faith in the player and his athletic potential, and we are not in need, quite the opposite. We are in a process of economic recovery, and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Laporta emphasized, highlighting the positive moment the club is experiencing.
Barcelona’s financial situation may necessitate player sales to alleviate the imbalance in Financial Fair Play regulations. However, the club’s stance prioritizes team strength over financial gains.
Laporta stated, “We have offers for all our young talents Pedri, Balde, Gavi, Araujo… but we are not willing to part with our stars.”
As Laporta outlined during his statement, efforts to secure funds are taking a different direction. He is considering terminating the contract with Nike and seeking more lucrative sponsorship deals.
If he agrees to Puma’s proposal, Laporta stands to receive a signing bonus of €100 million plus annual payments surpassing that amount from the German brand.
