Bahrain has emphasized the need to avoid military escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli border and to prevent the conflict from spreading in the region.
The aim is to safeguard the security of Lebanon and to achieve security, peace, and stability in the region.
This statement was made during the Bahraini Cabinet meeting held on Monday, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, according to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
In a different context, the Cabinet directed relevant authorities within Bahrain to continue all efforts to combat human trafficking.
Amid escalating fighting between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, the Israeli army revealed that 18 of its soldiers were injured, one seriously, when their position on the occupied Golan Heights was struck by a drone near the Lebanon border.
The army added in a statement that the airstrike occurred earlier yesterday, Sunday, and since then, they have targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon with airstrikes and artillery fire.
Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza, following an attack by Hamas on October 7th, Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging almost daily shelling.
The escalation has resulted in the deaths of at least 479 people in Lebanon, including 313 Hezbollah members and at least 93 civilians, according to a count by Agence France-Presse based on Hezbollah’s statements and Lebanese official sources.
In June, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that Defense Minister Yoav Galant has retracted his support for opening a front against Lebanon due to the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli army’s inability to end the conflict.
Just two weeks ago, the military had approved operational plans for a large-scale attack on Lebanon.
Notably, the Iranian mission to the UN warned Israel that a full-scale attack on Lebanon would trigger an obliterating war.
