Following the recent release of the iOS 17.0.3 update aimed at resolving overheating issues, Apple has confirmed the existence of another bug impacting iPhone battery life when paired with an Apple Watch running watchOS 10.1.
The acknowledgment came on Tuesday as Apple introduced the iOS 17.1 beta 3, specifically addressing this battery-draining bug.
The disclosed bug affected users who paired an Apple Watch running watchOS 10.1 beta with an iPhone operating on iOS 17.0 (non-beta version), leading to “increased power consumption.” Likewise, the issue manifested when an iPhone with iOS 17.1 beta was connected to an Apple Watch with watchOS 10.0.
Apple has not provided detailed insights into the specific causes of this battery-draining bug or whether it contributed to the reported overheating of iPhone 15 Pro models. Users currently running iOS 17.1 beta or watchOS 10.1 are advised to promptly update to the latest beta versions to benefit from the bug fix.
In addition to the battery-related fix, the release notes for iOS 17.1 beta 3 highlight another crucial update, urging users to update promptly to avoid a separate bug causing the Wallet app to crash upon launch. This proactive approach from Apple demonstrates the company’s commitment to addressing and resolving potential issues swiftly to enhance the overall user experience.
