European traders revealed on Tuesday that he Algerian Inter-professional Office of Cereals (OAIC) has initiated an international tender to purchase a nominal 50,000 tons of soft wheat flour, with the potential for significantly larger acquisitions than initially specified.

This move is part of Algeria’s strategy to bolster its grain reserves.

The tender is set to close on Thursday, May 2nd, with bids remaining valid through Friday, May 3rd. Algeria, traditionally a significant wheat importer from the European Union—particularly France—has seen an increase in competition from Russian exporters looking to expand their presence in the Algerian market.

In a related development, the Algerian National Office of Cattle Nutrition and Poultry issued tenders on Monday for substantial quantities of feed corn and soy. Specifically, the office is seeking up to 160,000 tons of feed corn and 70,000 tons of soy feed.

The corn tender stipulates that the grain must originate from Argentina or Brazil, divided into three to four
