The Tunisian Ministry of Transport announced that the country secured the transport of 120 passengers on a flight coming from the Nigerien capital, Niamey.
This aligns with the decision of the Nigerien authorities to partially reopen the airspace to civil aviation traffic.
Tunisair has allocated a large Airbus 330 aircraft to be able to accommodate the largest possible number of Tunisians wishing to return to their country, after the flight that was scheduled for 5 August 2023 was postponed due to the difficulty of refueling at Niamey airport due to the conditions in Niger.
Earlier on Sunday, Niger’s military rulers closed the country’s airspace, issuing a stern warning that any attempt to violate the closure would be met with an “energetic and immediate response.”
The stem came amid increasing tension with neighboring countries and international pressure.
