Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has been found guilty by a court in Sweden of disobeying a police order at a climate protest in Malmo. The 20-year-old activist avoided a potential prison sentence but was fined 2,500 Swedish krona (€216) instead.

Thunberg had pleaded not guilty and defended her actions in court, stating that they were justifiable. After the verdict, she asserted that the fight for climate action would continue despite the legal outcome.

Thunberg emphasized the need for long-term protections against self-destructive greed and called for changes in laws to address the urgent climate crisis.

The group involved in the protest, “Take Back the Future,” highlighted the significance of their actions in the face of government inaction and emphasized the importance of being present where harm is being done, such as oil ports, to defend lives and advocate for necessary climate actions.
