The seventh relief plane arrived on Saturday at Rafic Hariri International Airport in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, as part of the Saudi air bridge operated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. The plane carries relief aid, including food, shelter, and medical supplies.
The Saudi relief plane had departed earlier today from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, carrying food, medical, and shelter supplies. This initiative follows the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister, to assist the Lebanese people in facing these critical conditions.
These relief efforts are part of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and aid initiatives through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. The aim is to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese people amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis and to embody the Kingdom’s noble humanitarian role toward its brotherly and friendly nations in various crises and hardships.
The humanitarian crisis in Lebanon has sharply intensified due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which began escalating in early October 2024. Israeli airstrikes have targeted numerous locations in southern Lebanon, leading to extensive damage to infrastructure and civilian areas. The violence has caused significant displacement, with over a million people forced to flee their homes. The United Nations and aid organizations have raised concerns about limited access to affected regions, where shortages of food, medical supplies, and shelter are creating severe hardships for the displaced populations.
