The second relief aircraft, operated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, has taken off for Lebanon, carrying approximately 30 tons of relief supplies for the Lebanese people.
According to information obtained by Al Arabiya, the air bridge relief effort, initiated over the past two days, is set to continue providing aid to those affected without a fixed timeframe or an end date for the operations. It will persist until the humanitarian needs have been met, along with an assessment of the levels of need.
The aid carried by the air bridge in its second flight focused on food security, shelter, and medical services. Officials from the center indicate that the evaluation of needs across various sectors continues in the capital, Beirut, and areas where the center operates, in coordination with the caretaker government and relief organizations to determine priorities and requirements for the affected.
The humanitarian situation in Lebanon has severely worsened due to ongoing hostilities. The Lebanese Health Ministry reports substantial casualties, with over 1,000 people killed and more than 6,000 injured. The conflict has led to the displacement of more than a million people, many of whom are sheltered in overcrowded conditions, escalating the risk of disease spread as basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare are not being met adequately.
Additionally, the conflict has significantly disrupted essential services and damaged critical infrastructure, contributing to a severe food security crisis. The Lebanese government and international organizations are struggling to meet the immense humanitarian needs. The situation is so dire that even with international aid efforts, the capacity to absorb and aid the displaced is severely strained.
