Armed Iraqi factions carried out a series of drone attacks targeting vital sites in the Golan Heights and the occupied Palestinian territories.
The drone attacks are part of their response to Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
The Iraqi groups stated that they struck three crucial targets in the occupied Golan and two in Eilat with drone strikes.
The Iraqi elements affirmed that operations would continue with increasing intensity.
Last week, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq launched drone strikes on what they described as “vital” targets in the southern Israeli city of Eilat.
This follows a similar attack the group claimed on Thursday on a “vital target” in northern Israel. Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported that it had intercepted a drone approaching Israel over the Red Sea.
Since the war in Gaza commenced on October 7, 2023, these Iraqi armed groups have been regularly bombarding various Israeli locations, marking a significant escalation in their military activities.
The spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) described Israel’s targeting of its forces in southern Lebanon as a “serious development.”
In an interview with Sky News Arabia on Saturday, the spokesperson emphasized that Israel’s actions violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701, highlighting that Israeli attacks against UNIFIL forces have been ongoing.
The UNIFIL spokesperson added that Israeli forces had requested UNIFIL to stay away from the Blue Line, a demarcation line between Lebanon and Israel.
The spokesperson stressed that Israel must ensure the safety of UNIFIL troops in southern Lebanon and underscored the need for the Lebanese Army to deploy in the region.
