UN: 26,000 Civilians Affected in Ukraine since Start of War

The United Nations Human Rights Office announced that the number of civilian casualties in Ukraine since the start of the Russian war on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, until yesterday, July 16, has reached nearly 26,671 civilians, including around 9,287 fatalities and 16,384 wounded.

According to the UN Office, among the civilian victims, around 20,712 individuals were affected in territories controlled by the Ukrainian government, with over 7,000 deaths and over 13,000 injuries.

Furthermore, it stated that the number of civilian casualties in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions during the same period reached about 10,159 people, including 4,156 fatalities and 6,003 injured.

In the regions occupied by Russian forces at the time of the incidents, the number of civilian victims reached 4,959 individuals, including 2,075 fatalities and 2,884 injured.
