Lebanon’s Acting Foreign Minister, Abdallah Bou Habib, who recently traveled from New York to Washington to continue discussions related to Lebanon, received a phone call from Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

During the call, Prince Faisal conveyed directives from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to provide urgent humanitarian aid to Lebanon to assist the approximately one million displaced Lebanese citizens.

According to the Lebanese News Agency, the ministers discussed the latest developments in Lebanon, including strategies for ending the war and resolving the ongoing crisis.

Both ministers agreed to keep consultations open to expedite the resolution of the crisis.

Lebanon has been grappling with a significant displacement issue due to years of political instability, economic downturns, and regional conflicts.

The situation has been further exacerbated by the Syrian conflict, which has led to an influx of refugees and strained Lebanon’s already limited resources.

The promise of Saudi humanitarian assistance comes as a crucial support to Lebanon, highlighting ongoing international efforts to aid the nation amidst its multiple crises.

Speaking at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Saudi Foreign Minister stressed the importance of maintaining Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty in accordance with international law and UN Security Council resolutions.

Prince Faisal highlighted that the lack of accountability for Israel’s violations of international and humanitarian law is encouraging further escalation. He warned that this path will not lead to security or stability but will instead fuel violence and threaten regional peace.

Saudi Arabia has joined international efforts to establish an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon, paving the way for a sustainable diplomatic resolution. The US, EU, and other nations have similarly called for a temporary cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah.
