Ukraine has confirmed that it targeted a missile and ammunition storage facility in the Volgograd region of Russia late Saturday into early Sunday, continuing its strategy of launching intensive attacks on military logistical sites.
This operation is part of Ukraine’s broader campaign to disrupt Russian military capabilities.
A source close to Ukraine’s defense operations reported that the strike was executed using 120 explosive drones, with coordination from military intelligence and security agencies.
The targeted facility, located in the village of Kotluban, is believed to play a crucial role in storing missiles, ammunition, and explosives for Russian forces. The source indicated that this strike would significantly reduce the ammunition supply for Russian military units.
According to a statement from the Ukrainian General Staff, missiles had reportedly arrived at the site shortly before the attack, but the statement did not clarify whether these newly delivered weapons were directly impacted by the strike, which resulted in a fire.
On the Russian side, there has been no official report regarding the impact of this latest strike aimed at disrupting logistics in combat zones.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on Telegram that its air defense systems had intercepted 125 Ukrainian drones during the night. Andrei Buzharov, the governor of Volgograd, reported no injuries or damage from the attacks.
However, Russian bloggers on Telegram noted multiple explosions near Kotluban, where the Main Directorate of Missile and Artillery of the Defense Ministry is located. Local Russian media also reported a “massive drone attack,” with residents describing hearing several explosions throughout the night.
The Russian military regularly claims to intercept drones launched by Ukraine, underscoring the ongoing intensity of the conflict as both nations continue to engage in tactical offensives against each other’s military infrastructure.
